Our customer Enovates developed a revolutionary circuit board that immediately contains all functions. So no different electrical parts connected to each other with vulnerable connections and expensive installations. With this charging unit everything is ready, even the socket is already on the pcb.

To make this innovation extra interesting to their customers, Enovates wanted them to
an affordable but fully customizable
offer model.

User requirements

Good designs start with a clear understanding of the requirements. We examined all the conditions and circumstances for a simple, safe and future-oriented product. Thus we laid the foundation for an innovative process.

Agile design sprints

New product design rarely goes in a straight line. During quick back-and-forth sessions with the client, we translated evolving design requirements into an ever-improving prototype. In doing so, we connected the needs of both production, installers, and ultimate users.

Safe and shatterproof

Products for everyday use must be able to withstand rough handling. We tested materials of different thicknesses and swung a pendulum weighted with sandbags against the charging station until it didn't budge.

Simplicity in complexity

High-voltage electronics are not toys. So the housing of the circuit board and electrical connections had to be designed very safe and sturdy. Yet we were able to keep the installation simple and intuitive, and the charging station looks surprisingly simple.

Impact-resistant street furniture.

Objects that are used frequently by a variety of people need to be able to withstand rough handling. Especially if they are outdoors. To make the socket resistant to pushing and pulling, we played with the thickness of the polycarbonate and reinforcing ribs until it passed the breaking tests effortlessly. The entire box is now particularly impact-resistant.

Easy installation.

We developed a small basic unit for this purpose. This allows you to quickly and conveniently connect all the power wires. Once that is done, a seal is mounted and the main work is already over. Just mount the chosen charging unit on top and the charging station is ready, perfectly sealed against wind and weather.

"It is always challenging to still create innovative added value within the limits of the brief. In doing so, we also try to work as sustainably as possible with local production and screened suppliers. Do we have to order something that requires more transport? Then we offset the CO2 for that and plant trees."
