Aimé, the duomobile

Moving is healthy. And moving together does even more. The Pendulum duo-mobile is not a vehicle, but a device that gets two people moving together - literally and figuratively.

For elderly or disabled people, exercise often becomes difficult, as does social contact. With Aimé, we wanted to design an answer that starts from connection, fun and simplicity.

Human Centered Design

From human centered design, we thought not in functions, but in experiences. What does it feel like to move together? What if either person has limited mobility? What about safety, softness, ease of use? In every step of the process - from design to engineering - the human being was central.

With a positive effect. Not only physically but also mentally!

How it began

What do you still share when words fall away? For Aimé Houbracken, one powerful answer remained: movement. When his wife Mia was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Aimé didn't sit back. He designed a device on which they could "cycle" together-every day for more than five years.

Developed with deep human purpose.

In 2012, the first prototype rolled out of his hands. A simple, loving solution with a deeply human purpose: to create proximity where language fails. The story also touched Pilipili and Pendulum, which worked with Aimé to further develop the device. He was there when the first product was tested, and proudly watched his idea take on a larger life.

Aimé and Mia have since died, but the duomobile lives on-under its name, and with its spirit.
