Pilipili & BOS+: together for more forest in the Ecuadorian Amazon

BLOG - OVERVIEW
At Pilipili, sustainable thinking is not a trend, but a mindset. Together with our clients, we are constantly looking for ways to make products and processes more sustainable. Do we do that perfectly? Certainly not. But we sincerely do our best. And where we have not gone far enough, we compensate. This time again together with BOS+, with a contribution of € 10,000 to reforestation in the Amazon forest of Ecuador.

About the project

This project focuses on restoring degraded forests in the Ecuadorian Amazon, home to the indigenous Kichwa and Siekopai communities. Indigenous tree species are given a new home in the Amazon forest, where they help restore the forest, promote biodiversity and benefit local people.

€10,000 = 1.25 hectares of forest

Thanks to the support of our customers, we were able to donate €10,000 in 2024, accounting for 1.25 hectares of new forest. Through this, we are restoring degraded forests, increasing biodiversity, strengthening climate resilience and supporting indigenous communities.

Why not a Belgian project?

In 2021, we deliberately chose a reforestation project closer to home, a decision we still stand behind. But in the end, it's all about impact.

  • In the tropics, a forest grows faster, allowing it to store CO₂ faster and contribute to biodiversity.
  • The cost per acre is lower, which means that with the same budget we can more forest can grow.
  • The project has a social added value, because it is carried out together with the indigenous people.

So our choice of this project means more trees, more biodiversity and greater positive impact-both for the climate and for local communities.
